This is Capital City Dance & Fitness' 16th year of operation in the Columbia area. We offer numerous dance classes and fitness classes. Our fitness classes come with a no commitment necessary, only $5 per class fee.
Heather Vassey, owner and primary instructor, teaches several clogging classes and coaches the multi-award winning Capital City Cloggers team. Heather has been dancing for over thirty years. She was named to the America's Clogging Hall of Fame All-American team in 2000 and the America's Clogging Hall of Fame Team of the Decade for 2000-2009. Heather was the Traditional Soloist of the year in 2013, earning her the opportunity to dance on the Grand Ole Opry and recognition by the South Carolina Legislature. Heather is a graduate of Mars Hill College with a BS in Math. While at Mars Hill College, Heather danced with the National Champion Clogging Team, Bailey Mountain Cloggers. Heather was a cast member for 12 years in entertainment at Walt Disney World. Heather has been invited to dance with America’s Clogging All-Stars in London’s 2019 New Years’ Day parade. Heather is the current secretary of the America’s Clogging Hall of Fame. As owner of Capital City Dance and Fitness and Director of the Capital City Clogging Company, Heather prides herself on not only instilling a love of dance in her students, but in also promoting self-worth, community involvement, and comradeship.
Ebony is certified in Zumba and Mixxed Fit instruction and has many years of experience in hip hop, jazz, and African jazz. Ebony currently teaches our Zumba and Mixxed Fit classes.
Cara has 26 years of dance experience. She is trained in clogging, tap, and Irish step. She is a Florida Clogging Council certified instructor and has been named to the All Florida Invitational team twice. Cara was named to the America's Clogging Hall of Fame All-American team in 2017. Cara instructs our beginner's and intermediate Adult clogging classes.
George coaches the multiple award winning step team the Brothers and Sisters of Distinction.
Lexi was named to the America’s Clogging Hall of Fame 2018 All-American Team and Palmetto's Finest in 2017. Lexi currently teaches our intermediate kids/teens clogging classes. Lexi has been invited to dance with America’s Clogging All-Stars in London’s 2019 New Years’ Day parade.
Sarah has 18 years of dance experience and is trained in tap, jazz, ballet, clogging, lyrical, musical theater, contemporary, and hip hop. Sarah was named to the America’s Clogging Hall of Fame Jr. All-American team in 2011. Sarah has been named a National Grand Champion multiple times for choreographed solos and various duo/duets. Most recently Sarah and her partner, Matt Randolph, were named the 2018 National Show Duo/Duet National Champions, Sarah was named the 2018 Contemporary Female Solo Overall Grand Champion, and Sarah was named the 2018 1st Runner Up Female Soloist of the Year. Sarah was the 2014 Teen Miss American Clogger and is the reigning 2018 Junior Miss America’s Clogging Hall of Fame. Sarah teaches our beginner's tap and beginner's kids/teens clogging classes.
Kendyl teaches our 4-5 year old jazz combo class. She has 22 years of dance experience. She is trained in jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, Pom, and contemporary. Kendyl danced with the USC Carolina Coquettes Dance team and placed in the top 10 in the Miss South Carolina pageant.
Courtney was named to the America’s Clogging Hall of Fame 2018 All-American Team and Palmetto's Finest in 2018. She teaches our beginner's kids/teens clogging class. Courtney has also been invited to dance with America’s Clogging All-Stars in London’s 2019 New Years’s Day parade.
Rachel has 16 years of dance experience and is trained in clogging. Rachel was named to the America's Clogging Hall of Fame All-American team in 2016. Rachel teaches our preschool beginner's clogging class.
Sydney has 13 years of dance experience and is trained in clogging and jazz. Sydney was named to Palmetto's Finest in 2018. Sydney teaches our preschool beginner's clogging class. Sydney has been invited to perform with America’s Clogging All-Stars in London’s 2019 New Years’ Day parade.
Rudri teaches our Bollywood classes. More information about her experience and background will be posted soon.
Kylie has 14 years of dance experience with training in clogging and jazz. She was named to Palmetto’s Finest 2016 and has been invited to dance with America’s Clogging All-Stars for London’s 2019 New Years’ Day parade.
Beverly teaches our Mixxed Fit classes. She has 15 years of dance experience and is trained in tap and modern dance.
